Skin Trust

Your skin is your ultimate wardrobe. When you first meet someone you may look at their eyes and/or their clothes, but ultimately you get to their skin. And together these create an impression. Therefore, it is important to maintain healthy, beautiful skin. When your skin is healthy and beautiful your confidence increases too.

So how do you maintain healthy beautiful skin? It starts with the basic skin care, then depending on your age, there are certain ingredients and treatments that are used as a maintenance strategy.

Start with the basics: cleanse, tone, treat, protect.

  1. Cleanse your skin in the morning and night; in fact, cleanse your skin twice at night. First to remove makeup and toxins that build up during the day, and a second cleanse to really clean your skin. Never go to bed with makeup on!
  2. Next, tone if you are nourishing your skin, accelerating your cleanser, or want a very light exfoliation. This step is not always necessary, but when added, can enhance the results of other products.
  3. Follow this step with treatment products. In the daytime, treatment products are used to accelerate your protection from the sun or to actively treat a specific condition. Many times Vitamin C in the correct formulation enhances your sun screen (can never be used as one) while also brightening your skin and protecting it from free radical damage. In the daytime, minimally treat your skin with a sunscreen.
  4. Night time is the best time for treating or using corrective products because they will work most effectively as your body is in a restorative state.

Additional Step For Protecting Your Skin

An additional step that is important is exfoliating your skin. This should be done 2 to 3 times a week. Usually, this is done after your evening or night time cleansing. Exfoliating your skin removes all the dead cells on the surface so you get the best penetration from the products you use. This step also accelerates the cell renewal process through the epidermis to create healthy, beautiful skin.

Equally important to these steps is understanding if you are using the correct products for your skin type with the right ingredients. A well-trained esthetician can help you with both of these.
